The 5 C’s

Board Business has developed a coaching model to guide the professional development of high potential individuals.

The 5 C’s of accelerated performance encapsulate the key attributes of high performance leaders and is used to provide a holistic development program while targeting the high priority development issues for the individual the program.

The elements are:

Clarity

Develop absolute clarity on the role accountabilities, the measures of success, and the performance targets required. Develop your key messages and convey them in a way that cannot be misunderstood. Understand the organisation and the key players and their expectations of you. Be clear on your strengths and weaknesses and plan to bridge the gaps.

Consistency

Remain consistent in your message over time and across groups and align the accountabilities and priorities of your team to the key deliverables.

Confidence

Demonstrate confidence in your ability to perform in the role and learn to ‘wear the suit’. Develop a team that you can be confident will perform and guide and support them. Develop the trust and confidence of key stakeholders, positively influence decision makers and make value added contributions to the executive team.

Coaching

Constructively and proactively coach your team to higher levels of performance and encourage them to similarly support the development of their teams. Understand the personality types within the team and how to moderate your approach to gain maximum impact

Culture

Determine the behaviours that will support success of the team and the organisation. Positively reinforce, model and reward those behaviours. Consider how your own style impacts on the behaviour of others.
